F A Q S

1.- Is LiteStone natural stone?

LiteStone is manufactured stone with natural appearance, and the advantages of lighter weight and a simple installation process.

2.- What is the difference in cost between LiteStone and natural Stone?

The final cost of LiteStone is lower than natural stone since it does not require special anchors or specialized labor. The installation costs are also lower since time is considerably reduced in the process.

3- How is LiteStone packaged?

LiteStone is packaged in cardboard boxes designed to preserve the stone in best conditions. Flat stones and corner stones are packaged separately.

4.- How is LiteStone sold?

Flat stone is sold in boxes containing 8 square feet, while corner stone boxes contain 6 linear feet.

5.- How are LiteStone corner stones installed?

LiteStone produces stone veneer with a 90º angle to be used when required in corners. Installation must always start with corner stones (working your way from bottom to top). It is recommended to alternate the stone´s orientation in order to achieve a natural look.

In case of windows or doors, we recommend installing corner stones first in all spaces that require it, and finishing the process with all flat stones.

6.- Can LiteStone be applied on different surfaces?

Of course! LiteStone can be easily installed over masonry, concrete, adobe, wood, drywall, and others.

Always be sure the surface is clean and free of dust, paint or any other element that could affect adherence.

7.- How should the surface be prepared?

All installation details are shown in our installation guide (you can find it inside the box). You may also download it in the following link:

8.- What is used to adhere LiteStone to the surface?

The use of LiteStone’s indoor adhesive is highly recommended. You can find it at Lowe´s stores. For exterior installation, use a polyurethane based adhesive.

9.- Can LiteStone be used for interiors as well as for exteriors?

Of course! LiteStone has been approved for both uses.

10.- Can LiteStone be used for floors?

No. LiteStone is not recommended for such use.

11.- Can LiteStone be used for walls or floors adjacent to swimming pools?

We recommend its use for walls above water level.

If LiteStone is installed close to a swimming pool where the stone could constantly get wet, it is highly recommended to protect the stone with a sealant that does not form a film and allows the product to breathe.

12.- Should some kind of sealant be applied to the stone?

A sealant is not necessary unless the installation is done in a fountain, cascade or close to a swimming pool. It may also be used to achieve a “wet look” on the stone.

13.- Can LiteStone pieces be cut?

Yes, LiteStone is easy to cut using a hacksaw or electric cutting tool.

14.- Can LiteStone be used in a fireplace?

Yes, but only on the outer walls. If LiteStone is installed on the inner walls of a fireplace it could get stained just as a natural stone or brick would.

15.- What type of maintenance does LiteStone require?

LiteStone is practically maintenance free. An occasional washing and/or scrubbing to remove dirt or dust from the surface is all that is needed. Avoid the use of detergents, chlorine or wired brushes.

16.- Can LiteStone be installed in a wall with moisture or saltpeter problems?

No. In this case the problem is part of the wall. We recommend correcting the problem before installing the stone.
